Chess Pairings is a special application built for MacOS that can help to run chess tournaments. It can do everything from generating pairings to standings and even rating reports!
Chess Pairings has been developed by Michael Shapiro, who is currently a student at UW Bothell, pursuing a degree in computer science. There are no pairing programs out there built for Mac, and Michael created the first ever pairing program for Mac.
Michael is a chess player, rated about 1700 FIDE. His father, Slava, is a FM with a FIDE rating of 2420. Both are tournament directors. Slava has been directing tournaments for the past 40 years. These two fantastic tournament directors know everything a person needs to run a successfull event.
Chess Pairings comes with a variety of pairing systems implemented. The ones built in are the USCF Swiss pairing algorithm, FIDE Dutch algorithm, FIDE Dubov algorithm, Round Robin (Berger Tables), Keizer System, and Amalfi. Note that the Dutch and Dubov algorithm have not yet been endorsed by FIDE. Unfortunately, Chess Pairings will not be endorsed by FIDE for another two years as the FIDE Tec are reviewing their rules for endorsement, and doing a few changes which can take time. But, when the time comes, Chess Pairings will be the first ever FIDE endorsed pairing program for Mac! Note that there were no external libraries or frameworks used while making this. Everything was made completely from scratch!
Don't worry about an invalid pairing being generated. Chess Pairings does several holistic checks to ensure that all absolute criteria is met up with.
In future versions, Michael plans on adding more pairing systems such as the FIDE Lim System, and FIDE Burstein System.
Easy! You can buy Chess Pairings from the App Store for $100. Chess Pairings is a one-time purchase product (meaning there are no subscriptions involved), and after purchase, all updates are free. You will also get a bonus of being able to download Chess Pairings for free (after purchasing for the first time) up to six devices in family sharing.
Note that there are also no in-app purchases. Once you get it from the App Store, you have access to all the functions Chess Pairings has.
There really aren't that many requirements to be able to run Chess Pairings. It should work on most versions of MacOS, but having the latest version is strongly encouraged to have. Generally speaking, Chess Pairings doesn't need that much memory. You should be fine with 4 GB, but having at least 8 is reccomended.
Michael would be really pleased if you could give your feature requests! If you have any bugs you discovered (which should be unlikely to happen as Chess Pairings has been tested under strict conditions), you can also report them using the link below.

Note that not all requests will be honored. If it is relevant to the app some how, Michael will implement this for free (and will come out with the next available update).
